Matthias Al-Amiry

Vice President Operations Greater China & Mongolia

As Vice President of Greater China and Mongolia and General Manager of Key International Hotels Management Co., Ltd., Matthias is fully responsible for the operations, openings and future development of all Kempinski, NUO, and Bristoria hotels in the China region. In his role, he concentrates on exceeding customer and owner expectations, ensuring long-term hotel quality and profitability, turning around underperforming properties, and increasing revenues and market share.

In this capacity, Matthias oversees a vast portfolio of over 25 managed properties in Greater China and Mongolia, a very dynamic and fast-growing region of strategic significance for Kempinski.

Matthias is an experienced and accomplished hospitality industry leader with a proven track record of over 30 years of experience in the luxury hotel industry within brands including The Ritz-Carlton, The Peninsula, Raffles, Rosewood and MGM China.

With a strong understanding of Chinese culture and social norms, he is excelling in building owner relations, driving revenues, increasing market share, executing performance analysis and strategic vision implementation, crisis management and driving operational excellence with a strong emphasis on human capital and product and service quality.

Matthias started his journey with Kempinski in 2016 as the Managing Director for the landmark Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin before he was promoted and held the dual-roles of Managing Director of The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore and Regional Vice President Southeast Asia in 2020.

In 2022, Matthias moved back to China to take the helm of the iconic Kempinski Hotel Bejing Yansha Center, formerly known as Kempinski Lufthansa Center. From April until November 2023, he held the multiple roles of Managing Director Kempinski Hotel Bejing Yansha Center, Vice President of Greater China and Mongolia and General Manager of Key International Hotels Management Co., Ltd.

A German national, Matthias holds a Bachelor degree in Hotel Management from the prestigious Hotel Management School Heidelberg and is an alumni of Cornell University.
