Kempinski and Beijing Tourism Group established this momentous joint venture on June 5, 2001, with a mandate to operate Kempinski Hotels throughout China. As the portfolio grew, so did our luxury footprint when the partnership announced a new entry into the market – NUO, China’s first homegrown luxury brand. The grand opening of the first NUO Hotel was celebrated in 2015.
Diversification and expansion of the joint venture continues today with the development and operation of Tangram and Bristoria hotels, and an exciting partnership project with Universal Beijing Resort, opened two hotels inside the next-generation theme park in 2021. Our constantly evolving consulting services also provide bespoke support to individual owning companies and investors.
NUO Hotels were officially launched in 2012 during an inauguration ceremony at the Temple of Heaven in Beijing and their first property opened to the public in 2015. The “made in China” brand reflects its latest expression of Chinese hospitality with unique references to the country’s heritage, art and culture. NUO’s premier hotel was inspired by the Ming Dynasty and features signature works by Beijing artist Zeng Fanzhi and unique art pieces synonymous with the era.
We are also responsible for two exciting new properties opened in Universal Beijing Resort – The Universal Studios Grand Hotel and NUO Resort Hotel – Universal Beijing Resort. The on-site hotels operates on a white label/themed solution service and guests staying in either luxury hotel will qualify for exclusive access to theme park benefits. Adding to our achievements, over the past two decades, we have organised and supported world-class events such as G20, APEC and China’s Belt and Road Forum which have taken place in Kempinski hotels throughout China.
